From 70+ year-old vineyards at the ‘Faraway Ranch’ in Altamira (Uco Valley), this dense Malbec is full-bodied with thick tannins.
Dark as night, a basket of enticing floral aromas (especially violets), Malbec’s intense red and black fruit flavors underlined with superbly integrated French oak notes giving way to a long, spicy finish.
Firm but supple tannins make this wine worthy of rich foods like steak with a port reduction, duck with an intense cherry sauce, or a slowly-braised veal shank.
The flinty and mineral 2018 Finca Remota is finely textured with chalky minerality and a long and fresh finish despite the warmish year. It's a very classical Malbec produced in the elegant and harmonious Mendel style, not explosive, subtler than in your face, combining clout and poise. It has the smoky note of other 2018s and the varietal and place signature, what a quality wine should be.Wine Advocate March 2021
